What is Life Coaching?
Life coaching  is a method by which we make adjustments to our perceptions, our habitual thinking, and our
actions in order to create the life we want to live and that expresses who we authentically are.  A life of wellness
first begins with how we are
being  - having clarity, focus, ease, and grace - and then it inevitably shows up in all
that we
do with winning results.  Being aligned with our personal power allows us to interact in the best possible
way with each person and situation we encounter, thus shifting our life to an extraordinary one.  Life coaches are
specially trained to impart life tools, to have us identify core strengths and values, bring awareness to the
self-limiting conversations that stop success, clarify what holds rich meaning, and make the contributions we
came for.  Life coaching is about letting go of what is not working in exchange for satisfying
results!
"Your living is determined not so much by what life
brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life;
not so much by what happens to you as by
the way your mind looks at what happens"

A Life Coaching Riddle

There are no windows and no openings in this box except for
one door, which is locked.  The only key to this door lies
outside of the box.  You are alone inside with nothing –
no tools, no materials at all, and nobody
else is inside with you or even outside to
help you.  This task is yours and yours
alone.  How do you get out of this box?"

Miracles: A True Story of the Power of Coaching
"Imagine that you are inside a box...
This is a true story of how the power of perception and belief can unlock hidden potential in anyone.  As I was
training to become a coach, I also worked one-to-one with a child diagnosed with autism, whom I will call "Jay".
He was a fifth grade, special education student who spent most of his time in his own world arranging pictures in
neat little rows on the classroom floor and sitting in a corner at recess by himself.  No one knew that besides
having such creative talents beneath his disability, Jay was quite able to do much more than he had been given
the chance to prove.  I was not the first to work with Jay, as several others had attempted and within weeks or
days, discontinued because he was "impossible" to help.  He was famous for pitching a fit if asked to do
something other than what he wished to do, thereby frustrating and disabling his own hired support.  Starting out,
I received many subtle and other more blatant cues from Jay's teachers, peers, and his parents about what he was
and was not capable of.  As I got to know Jay, I noticed how perceptive he was to what others expected of him and
he worked to satisfy those limits but refused to go an inch further.  At this realization I began to stretch the limits,
little by little, while assuring him that he absolutely
could reach further with his current ability.  I'll never forget
the first day he was able to eat lunch with the other kids (instead of with the teachers) out in the lunch area...by
himself.  Even though he was indistinguishable
among his peers, one of the office administrators came running
into
the teacher's break room, panicked that I wasn't by his side.  I glanced out the window at the lunch area and
replied, "What does he need me for?"  After that point, people began to celebrate each new 'miracle' Jay
demonstrated, his peers invited him to play at recess, his studies were completed, and he proudly did his very own
science project presentation in front of his mainstream class.  Life was never the same again...simply because
someone was more interested in "can" than "can't" and Jay
believed them.
This comes from the mind of a six-year-old child.  See if you can solve it!
The answer is simple and only requires a slight shift in our assumptive thinking to get
it...  Stop imagining.  Many times, the answers to what we seek are right in front of us
though because we are accustomed to perceiving life in a certain way,  they are over-
looked.  Coaching simply clears the fog so we see what is true of us and the situations
presently arising in life.
"Miracles rest not so much upon healing power coming
suddenly near us from afar but upon our perceptions being
made finer, so that, for the moment, our eyes can see and
our ears can hear what has been around us always."
