Are we a match?
While some coaches do not employ the use of contracts, I find that it is a very useful tool for several reasons.
One of the most important reasons is that it is a written agreement between you and your coach stating that
sessions are confidential and no information can be shared without specific written consent by you (unless you
express intent to harm yourself or others). Your personal contract also outlines the frequency and duration of
your coaching sessions that you choose and your fee rate. There is much important information describing the
process of coaching, what it can and cannot do, cancellation policy, and other logistics that establish clarity.
Should you or your coach discover that coaching is not for you, the coaching contract may be canceled with a
week's notice. The bottom line is that the contract is designed to bring certainty to you in the coaching process.
What kinds of things can a coach not do for me?
Coaching is not a substitution for psychotherapy, consulting, legal, financial, or medical counsel. A coach may
support you in seeing if any of these services would be beneficial to check into, however the role of a coach is
to: forge a powerful partnership with you, help you gain clarity and focus about what you want and how to
take action to do it, to be a support to you throughout the coaching experience, to help you develop strategies
that move you past obstacles toward meaningful goals that reflect your values, to create structure, certainty,
confidentiality, safety, and respect as well as keep the agreements of the contract.

How do I know coaching will work for me?
After establishing initial groundwork of concepts using the Coaching Guide Workbook, designed by Master
Coach, Maria Nemeth, you are set to begin sculpting your own life. The workbook is a tool for you to refer to
during coaching and one you will get to keep! Coaching doesn't just take place during sessions, but becomes
part of your repertoire so that you internalize the concepts and become your own coach well after your goals are
completed. Coaching seeks to teach you new tools, practice using them, and become confident in being your
own coach with the guidance of the coaching model to draw out your wisdom in every life situation. Coaching
is an investment that holds for the rest of your life.
The most powerful way coaching works is through the principle of being willing. Nothing can shift without
being willing to: look closely at what you have come for coaching on, bring focus to that which you want to see
improve, surrender to the truth of what is currently at work in your life, and then take an authentic action towards
producing visible results. If you have tried without success at accomplishing goals in the past, never fear... This
is exactly why you have a coach! There may be times that you set out an action plan and then didn't follow
through with what you said you would do and this is completely normal. Having 'blocks' come up is part of the
game and the coaching process works to clear them. If it becomes clear after several coaching sessions, that
progress is not being made, your coach will look with you at possible reasons why this is occurring and if
necessary, refer you to the appropriate help. Sometimes lack of progress can indicate a need for some healing
through therapy first before continuing forward with coaching.
How do I start?
To begin, simply call or e-mail me to set up a convenient time for your free, 30 minute consultation. During our
time together, we will look at what kinds of things coaching can support you in, discover what ideas and dreams
inspire you, and ultimately discover what you would like to create in your life or organization. You are welcome
to ask any questions or address any concerns about having coaching as well as experience some one-to-one
coaching to get a feel for what it is like. If you decide coaching is for you, we will then discuss how many
sessions you would like (and it is advisable to have not less than 6 if this is your first time with a minimum of
three), how often you would like to meet - weekly, twice a month or once a month, and create a personal
coaching contract together. Coaching can continue by phone appointments or depending on if you are in the
local area, it may be conducted in person.
Why do you use a coaching contract?
How long do I need coaching?
Duration of coaching depends entirely on your specific needs and what you would like to accomplish. Some
desire to accomplish one immediate goal while others are working on a long-term goal. Maybe there are several
goals to be accomplished and still others seek to have an ongoing monthly coaching 'check-up' to keep life
moving smoothly.
If you are new to coaching and starting out with six weekly sessions, you will complete your coaching in a
month and a half where you then decide if you would like additional coaching. I have had clients of all kinds -
some for over a year and some for a couple of months - and there are no rules to how long it takes. It takes as
much time as you need and you may choose to work on something intensely to see results more quickly or prefer
a slower paced coaching environment.
You determine how many sessions and how often you would like to have coaching support to produce the results
you want to see. Once you have attained your coaching objectives, you may discontinue your coaching or
decide to continue by creating new goals which would begin a new coaching contract. You have complete
creative control over how you would like to use life coaching.
What is the longevity of coaching?
How affordable is coaching?
For coaching fees, please consult with your coach during your free consultation as the cost depends on whether
you are interested in engaging group, interpersonal, or organizational coaching. Fees begin at $30 and up per
session. A sliding scale based on income is available. For your convenience you may pay by check, money
order, or by PayPal. Families of and programs for children with special needs may be edible to use vendored
coaching through Regional Center which pays for 100% of the cost upon state approval.

Therapy is useful when emotional
healing needs to take place to regain
normal function of daily life. If
trauma, depression, anxiety, or other
mental and emotional states not in
current harmony are experienced, a
therapist is needed before coaching
can be effective. Therapy...
- Is psychology based
- Is therapist directed where the
therapist is the expert
- Analyzes why you think and
feel the way you do
- Heals problems that are
'chronic' and interfere with
ability to perform daily
functions
- Focuses on how past events
affect current behaviors,
thoughts and feelings
- Can correct mental states and
behaviors through medication.
Coaching is useful for bridging the
gap between where you are now
and where you would like to be.
Finding meaning and relevance to
create joy in everyday life is key to
achieving successful goals and is
part of the coaching process.
Coaching...
- Is ontology based
- Is client directed where the
client is the expert in
discovering their own wise
answers
- Observes how thinking
assumptions show up and
that you are bigger than
your doubts.
- Asserts that you are whole
and complete rather than
broken, needing fixing
- Partners with you to create
steps to achieve goals
Consulting is useful for solving
problems in areas that have specific
systems set up in a way that can be
constructed and deconstructed in a
step by step process. There are
established 'rights' and 'wrongs' in the
way the system is executed therefore
needing expert advice to fix problems.
Consulting...
- Is logically based
- Is consultant directed where
the consultant is the expert in
their chosen field
- Analyzes why a particular
problem is occurring within a
specific system
- Dispenses advice on how to
fix or maintain the system
- Often carries out the tasks
required to fix or maintain
- Focuses on 'damage control'
instead of forward movement
